To honor Mother’s Day, we will share a celebration of the contributions of poet, memorist, essayist, civil rights activist, scholar, educator, literary icon, performing artist, mother, grand- and great-grandmother, Maya Angelou (1928 -2014), an ordinary person who did extraordinary things. Written, coordinated, and directed by Dorothy Paige-Turner, performers for this presentation include Jackie Rogers, Janet Wright, Carl Towns, and Coleen Martin Williams, and featuring a display of a special custom artwork of Maya Angelou by Rockford artivist King Moosa.
