About the event
Utilizing music, poetry and choral readings, the Rockford Reader’s Theatre will share the history and celebration of Juneteenth, our country’s second Independence Day. A nationally recognized state and federal holiday celebrated annually on June 19th since the year 2021, Juneteenth is the oldest known holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States of America.
Directed and coordinated by Dorothy Paige-Turner, the very talented members of the Rockford Reader’s Theatre include: Janet Wright, Wendell Thompson. Coleen Martin Williams, Jackie Rogers and Carl Towns.
Seating is first-come, first-served with a 50-seat limit. Free admission; performers are paid from audience donations. Suggested donation is $5-$20;
we are grateful for any amount you give. Refreshments served.
Inscape Collective will be open from 11am-5:00pm
